This is the first installment of a series of posts where I want to document the setup that I am using for writing my thesis. It will include links to software and tools as well as document certain tips & tricks that I learn on the way.
Let me first start with my software setup: I am using an iBook 800/12” running on OS X 10.4.2. The LaTeX Software was installed using Gerben’s i-Installer as well as Fink. My editor of choice (although I have not yet done extensive testing) is TeXShop. This combination lets you start with TeX - including a pretty fast PDF preview at the cost of a single mouse click. I manage my bibliography with the BibTex editor BibDesk, which is a really useful and very much Mac-like Reference manager.
