Karina and Raul will be in Europe this summer again. They will be giving workshops in multiple places; the dates above are just for the workshop in Munich. They teach the “modern” tango as it was developed by Gustavo Naveira, Chico and Roberto Herrera; but they have certainly developed their own style as well. Very characteristic for this “school” of tango is the focus on elements of movement instead of steps and sequences. This enables a very musical, energetic, dynamic and improvised tango — and is, in my humble opinion, the future of tango, the further development where tango will go this century.

To find out more about Raul’s style check out this interview recorded at last years Tango festival in Brussels. There he describes this “new style of tango” as:

a deeper understanding of the dynamics of how we move and keeping contact with our partner is more important than learning steps. If you can do that, then your improvisation skills will increase tremendously. You will also have a better connection with the music. With that skill as a basis, then you can go back to the patterns you learned and work on them from a different perspective.

Raul and Karina are very active in Buenos Aires (where you can take classes and lessons — see here ).
