Danza Y Movimiento Club

The record/CD store Danza Y Movimiento - specializing in world music, especially tango, latin and brasil. (They also sell books about tango, salsa, latin and brasil) - has drawn the line between “just browsing” clients and “buying” clients (i.e. potential and real clients): From now on you need to be a member in their “club” if you want to listen to their music samples. However the club is not just a “send me a newsletter club”, but it costs you money - which is directly added as a down payment on any purchase made at their store. So nothing changes (in principle) for their real clients, everyone “abusing” their offerings by shopping somewhere else now has a problem… or needs to pay for a valid and very useful service. I am not certain this is the good thing to do. I can understand their move (the bandwidth as well as the creation of the sound samples needs to be paid for - and essentially it is free for paying customers anyhow), maybe it is even the right thing to do. rant on in fact, we should be coming to an agreement that there are certain services worth paying for - or at least giving credit for rant off.

I will be watching this development. There are still free sound samples out there, like at amazon de us or at tangostore

Pictures of Salsa and Cuba

Ingrid Firmhofer is a photographer with a very good eye for colors and movement. She shows pictures of her travles to the latin amricas as well as some of dancers and musicians. To me almost ever picture of her displays a very colorful, warm and happy scene - inspiring me as well as cinjuring up the emotions of the place and situation. Very superb.
