And, in the end, it simply isn’t worth
Your while to try and clean your life away.
You can’t. For, everything you do or say
Is there, forever. It leaves evidence.
In fact it’s really only common sense;
There’s no such thing as nothing, not at all.
It may be really very, very small
But it’s still there. In fact Ⅰ think I’d guess
That ‚no‘ does not exist. There’s only ‚yes‘.
Sally Potter’s newest masterpiece.
What Ⅰ remember from the film is a multi-sensoric experience:
My eyes: Ⅰ remember very beautiful pictures, colors. The actors are truly wonderful, the scenery speaks for itself, almost as if you don’t need sound.
My ears: Wonderful music (as with every one of Sally’s movies), creating a soundscape that, again, in itself tells the whole story. But there is more: the characters each have different accents, each so wonderful in its melody of voice. The dialogue, written in poetry. Beautiful.
My heart: touched by the story, touched by the love and desire of the two lovers, torn by the ice cold agression of the married couple, excited by the escalation between the lovers, angered by their fate…
A movie that can be watched over and over again…
