Jason complains about how Firefox is annoying him… although it shouldn’t.
Destructive windows. Clicking an URL in an email refreshes the currently open Window or tab in Firefox rather than spawning a new one like Safari does. This is even more annoying when you’re in the middle of some sort of e-commerce transaction and it gets completely wiped out.
There is a setting in the advanced prefs ‘tabbed browsing’ section which controls this behavior - much like in Safari. The other problems he is having I do not have - although there are quite a bunch of bugs for me as well:
- No access to services. Haven’t Carbon apps gained that functionality in the past year or so? Now if just some fellow Firefox coder would enable services…
- Performance. Sometimes Firefox is just a major performance hog - eating up anything around. But well - a restart of FF does the job.
- Somehow my javascriptlet windows open in the background?!!
- No keychain integration
But alas, there are too many things I like about Firefox:
- The Web Developer Toolbar
- Adblock
- BugMeNot
- Its customizability…
Ah well - I will start Safari again when Tiger arrives - until then it is stuck for extreme cases.
