Last friday my ipod mini started having problems - turning itself off, for example. Today I realized after having the ipod sit on the AC adapter for 2 days it still has no full battery - actually it was dead after about 10 songs.
I checked google and found two good facts:
- The iPod is still under warranty and this includes dead batteries etc.
- A reset might work. I will see tomorrow.
[update Montag, 6. Juni 2005] The hardware reset seems to have worked - battery full and functional for 2 h straight.
[update Mittwoch, 8. Juni 2005] Still annyoing. This morning the ipod showed a 2/3 full battery, after one song it complained about no power. Hardware reset -> battery display was full again. 10 minutes of playback and the battery was empty, this time for good. That makes it a total of about 2 hours playback since the last recharge, no backlight enabled.
Next try: resetting the whole ipod plus firmware.
[update Donnerstag, 9. Juni 2005] This seems to have fixed all problems.
[update Friday, 10. Juni 2005] Nope, still buggy as hell. I just ordered the little box to send it back to apple.
[update Friday June 17th] my replacement iPod just arrived. All is fine again.
i understand. My battery never is full and mine erases its self! I cant ever listen to music.
Try to do a reset, reinstall of the firmware. If that does not help - get it replaced as long as your warrantee lasts!

my ipod mini turns on by its self, then all by battery is gone cos it was on. but when i check up on my ipod when it automatically turns on the hold sign is on , so i dont know hot to fix it ……how do u reset your ipod mini?
I believe you may have the alarm set on your iPod, either directly or via some sort of iCal event. Check the settings/preferences and the extra/time setting for the alarm!

i just got this i-pod mini from my frd and when i plugged it in everything was fine but then itunes said tht there is a software update available for the ipod and i accepted the update and after it was updated it said something like to put it on to the power adaptor which i dont have i charge through the pc usb cable.it doesnt turn on any more whichever button i press it just comes up with the power plug&socket pic on it.it just doesnt turn on.pls help me very urgently.

the apple shows on screen for like 15 seconds, then off for about 2 seconds then back on for 15 off for 2 on and on. I can’t get it to turn on and it seems like it wants to turn on but won’t I tried to reset it everything nothing works. Is it dead?? when i turn my ipod on to a song and press play, it simply does not play. when it starts after about 5 minutes, there is a horrid static sound, followed by the song, now warped and completely messed up. is something corruoted in the ipod? i know it’s not the headphones, bc ive used other headphones and experienced the same problem.
