The Register is talking to hell-boy incarnate. Link spammers or “search engine optimizers” are one annoying bunch of people - most bloggers have, are or will be fighting them. There are quite a bunch of tools out there to help - but I guess it will always be a battle between the good guys and the bad guys - who will be faster? On the other hand I suppose both sides are enjoying the challenge and as long as it is just the users who get caught in the middle… but then there is hope on the search engine side of things - google is always on the run for new ways to make the spammer’s strategies obsolete - until the find a new hole. Interesting to follow… is there a site out there with a “history of spamming” detailing the strategies that have been used and how they were countered?
