Just a quick question to lazyweb: We are having major problems with our aeon old Novell server and would like to migrate to something open that our youngsters can and want to administrate - i.e. something based on linux or unix. Any idea if there are easy migration tools to preserve accounts and functionality?

It looks like you’re a mac person from visiting your weblog. I do technical pre-sales for Apple enterprise direct sales. OS X Server is open (based on BSD UNIX, includes Apache, perl, php, etc.) and works great. I actually used to work for Novell. Converting from NetWare to OS X Server would be a pretty manual process, but I think that would be the same even if you were moving from NetWare to Suse Linux. Users and groups are easy enough to transfer, but file system rights are tricky.
