  1. SHI-DANCER understands autenthicity as the following of its unique individuality, which emanates from the heart, but not to mode or to public.
  2. SHI-DANCER attempts to converse with itself, by partner and by environment through the heart, but not the mind.

  9. In the dance of SHI-DANCERS are visible attentiveness and love for the partner.
  10. Dance does not strain SHI-DANCERS. Their respiration remains inaudible and calm.

It is amazing what you can find at youtube. Here’s a video of Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes dancing in Holland at “Ultimo Tango Festival 2000″. Yes, this was in 2000! Luckily someone filmed it and posted the video just now, check it out:

…are fighting with musicality? I don’t really know what is going on here, but I have seen Sebastian and Mariana do amazing stuff, and they usually have great musicality in my eyes. But this video is less than what I expect.

But: is it because I don’t really get the song? It is great to listen to, but for dancing — something is missing for me. Is this why I don’t see the performance I would expect from the couple?

Masters…

The more you watch the dance of a Master, the more you discover of Elements, Methods, Structure, Feel, Shape, and even History. It is a whole world in a Master’s dance. It has depth, it is multidimensional, multilevel, cross-connected in time, space, and sense, developing, contrasting, balanced, and integral. And soulful. If you watch a dance of not masters - you have feeling that you’ve seen it all. Oh, yet another one. Want-to-look-like-Masters adorn like crazy, boleo wide. And this is it. That is not what counts.


Unfortunately, often Masters do not care about being recognized as Masters.


Happy are warriors: it is easy for them to find who is the best: one slash of a Master, and not-Masters lay down dead. It is not like that in dancing..


It is difficult to recognize a Master. If you are not a Master yourself.
